What is a WindSmart System?

Continuing to exceed our clients’ expectations, PB Roofing utilizes WindSmart’s Air-Sealed, Pressure-Equalized Commercial Roof System®. By harnessing the wind, WindSmart & the PB Roofing Projects Team build superior roofs, protecting the future of your commercial property investment.

A wind vented roof system is constructed to be more weather resistant to wind, rain, and hail and can remove entrapped moisture to avoid future tear-off. Our PB Roofing Projects Team will effectively install these roof systems with the lowest life-cycle costs of any commercial roof system.

You may be a multi-state property owner, a public entity, or single property owner. Our expert team will listen to your needs, collect accurate data and provide customized recommendations.

Top 3 Benefits of the Wind Vented Roof System

Fighting Wind Damage

When wind hits the side of a building, it creates an updraft. When the updraft meets the horizontal air stream, it creates a horizontal vortex similar to a tornado. This wind vortex creates an external low pressure that can easily tear off a conventional roof system assembly.

Waste Reduction

The WindSmart System eliminates the wasteful practice of continual roof assembly “tear off”. Commercial roofing waste is a significant factor in the overloading of landfills. WindSmart vented roof systems are loose-laid, therefore the ease of future membrane removal for additional roof assembly recycling offers cost and labor savings benefits. This reduced-waste practice allows for the lowest life cycle cost of the building, and changes the roofing game.

Lower Life Cycle Costs

WindSmart Systems can provide the lowest initial cost on large open roofs and difficult-to-fasten decks. Entrapped moisture removal allows a WindSmart roof to can remain dry for the long term.

How it Works

HARNESSING THE POWER OF WIND

Wind moving across a WindSmart roof is drawn through vents installed on the roof’s surface, from the space between the membrane and the airtight substrate below it.

VACUUM PACKED

Using an air-tight substrate design, wind-generated low pressures pull air and moisture from under the roof membrane, up through and out of strategically placed equalization vents.

A suction is created, pulling the roof membrane tightly against the substrate, resisting wind uplift.

SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION

Roof waste streams are a significant factor in the overloading of landfills. Each year nearly 136 million tons of building construction and demolition-related debris are generated, according to estimates from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The U.S. Green Building Council has stated that this debris accounts for up to 40% of all solid waste in the U.S.

HURRICANE RESISTANT

WindSmart’s wind vented roofing system has achieved some of the highest reported wind uplift capabilities within the roofing industry.
